Dear Resident,
As a part of Columbia Gas of Virginia’s commitment to provide safe and reliable natural gas to its customers and nearby residents, we have made a significant investment to replace natural gas pipelines in your community as a part of a multi-phase, multi-year program to modernize its natural gas distribution system.
The construction phase of the DVA6 pipeline replacement project on Phases 4A and 4C have been completed. This project replaced the aging steel pipe with state-of-the art coated steel pipe. Thanks to advancements in technology since the aging gas line was first put into service, we have now installed specially designed, long-lasting lines more suited for underground use.
We would like to thank you for your patience over the last several months as we have worked to complete this important safety and infrastructure upgrade.
Over the course of the next several weeks, our crews will be working to restore any disturbed areas to their pre-construction condition. Weather permitting, the landscaping and restoration work is expected to begin shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday and conclude in early 2025. This will include repairing any hard surfaces that were disturbed as part of the DVA6 project.

Dear Resident,
Columbia Gas is committed to keeping you informed as the construction of the DVA6 project progresses. Construction is moving forward and is on schedule for completion.
Please be aware that this week, October 21st through October 25th, there are some processes that need to occur to tap into the infrastructure that may cause minor disturbances within your community. Intermittently you will hear some periods of loud noise and may smell some of the odorant added to natural gas.
These activities will be focused near Fox Den Road and Purcell Road. During this time services will be tied into the existing infrastructure.

Please be aware that on the week of October 10th through October 17th, 2024 that we will be conducting water testing in the new pipeline and that you may hear loud noises during the course of this exercise. This noise is normal as the pipe is filled with water and then the water is removed.
As we complete the final portions of the pipeline project, you may continue to experience some minor disturbances. There may be additional traffic from larger vehicles near the construction site. If traffic control is needed, a state-certified flagging crew will be on-site to ensure safety and maintain the flow of vehicles traveling around the site. You may also hear additional noise from construction equipment during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
